LIP LIFT INFORMATION FORM
WHAT IS A LIP LIFT?
A lip lift surgery is a surgical procedure involving the removal of a small strip of skin under your nose, shortening the area between the nose and the upper lip (philtrum), thus exposing more of the red lip, known as the vermilion.
HOW IS A LIP LIFT DONE?
During a lip lift surgery, excess skin and fat tissue between the nose and the lip are removed and then sutured back together. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and typically takes about half an hour. Cosmetic stitches placed in the area are usually removed after one week.
DOES A LIP LIFT LEAVE A SCAR?
Yes, stitches leave a scar wherever they are placed on the human body. After a lip lift surgery, there may be a scar at the base of the nose, but it usually fades over time and may not be noticeable even upon close inspection.
HOW LONG DOES A LIP LIFT TAKE?
It typically takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete the procedure.
IS A LIP LIFT PERMANENT?
A lip lift procedure is indeed permanent. It is particularly advantageous compared to other lip surgeries, as it usually does not require additional procedures. After this procedure, you may achieve an ideal distance between the lips and nose, resulting in a natural appearance.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PROCESS FOR A LIP LIFT?
Waterproof bands are usually applied in the area. These bands are removed within 5 to 7 days, and antibiotic creams are applied followed by scar creams. The wound typically fully epithelialized within 7 to 10 days. By 15 days, the scar has settled. After 3 months, the scars usually have a much-improved appearance.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A LIP LIFT?
A lip lift, also known as upper lip lift or upper lip shortening, is performed on individuals who are dissatisfied with the length of their upper lip, which may disrupt their facial proportions. It is a procedure aimed at shortening the upper lip length for aesthetic reasons.
