FACELIFT INFORMATION FORM

WHAT IS A FACELIFT?
Facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, refers to procedures that lift and tighten the skin of the face. Facelift procedures can be performed through medical treatments or surgical methods. While individuals in their 30s may benefit from skin care and medical procedures for facelift purposes, surgical methods become more effective for lifting the face with collagen depletion, typically starting around the age of 60.

HOW IS A FACELIFT DONE?
Facelift surgery involves making an incision above the hairline, typically along the natural crease in front of the ear and extending downward. This allows for the removal of excess skin and tightening of the underlying tissues, resulting in a more lifted appearance.

HOW LONG DOES A FACELIFT TAKE?
The duration of the operation is approximately 2.5–4 hours, with a hospital stay of a few days post-operation. Mild discomfort or pain may occur for a few days following the surgery.

DOES A FACELIFT LEAVE SCARS?
While some scarring may occur due to incisions made in front of and behind the ears, incisions made within the hair-bearing scalp are usually not visible. After a well-performed surgery, any remaining scars are typically barely noticeable.

RECOVERY PROCESS AFTER A FACELIFT?
The recovery period typically lasts about a week, after which patients can generally return to their normal activities.

HOW LONG DOES A FACELIFT LAST?
The duration of the facelift’s effectiveness depends on the technique used during the operation. However, temporary facelift treatments typically last between 5 to 10 years.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF FACELIFT SURGERY?
Potential risks of facelift surgery include bleeding, infection, suture reactions, wound separation, nerve or muscle damage, as well as circulation and tissue loss issues.

IS FACELIFT SURGERY PAINFUL?
Facelift surgery is not typically painful, with most patients experiencing discomfort mainly from swelling and bruising in the days following the procedure.

WHEN ARE STITCHES REMOVED AFTER A FACELIFT?
Stitches are usually removed 7 to 10 days after the operation, allowing time for any bruising and swelling to subside.

POST-FACELIFT USE OF A CORSET
Using a chin-up corset for neck lifting is recommended for approximately 2-3 weeks, wearing it for about 30 minutes daily.
